Intervention Zones > Mahdia

   The history of the governorate of Mahdia dates back to Roman times. With 75 km of coastline, the extent of its rural territory, its natural resources and human capital, the region offers a framework for development of exchanges with its environment and an environment conducive to the promotion of productive investment.


   Its economy is primarily based around agriculture, which occupies 23.4% of the working population and an emerging industrial activity. Its main agricultural products: olive oil, milk and milk products and seafood.

   Tourism presents a regional development tool with its seaside appearance in addition to its cultural and ecological aspect that offers promising opportunities.

   This potential is coupled with threats to the region, the availability of water resources, zonal disparities, and lack of infrastructure and public facilities in its internal delegations.
